Maraam Tarraf

EN:

Maraam is from Bremen, Germany. She studies „public health“ in her hometown university and seems to be a regular student during the day, but at night, some might call her a „tik tok- legend“. Alright, „some“ is probably her mom.

She likes to showcase her personality, odd thoughts as well as her somewhat weird talents (like imitating celebrities or pretending to be a SIMS-character) to entertain thousands of people a day. She still doesn’t understand how that happened and why they seem to be enjoying it, but it’s certainly something she developed a deep passion for over time. Describing herself, she’d probably be an entertainer, whose biggest purpose in life is making people around her laugh and feel good.

In her free time, she’s just an ordinary Arab girl with semi-strict parents who likes to read, sing, write songs, spend way too much time on social media (and is weirdly obsessed with puzzles and collecting miniature things). But she wants to be more. Not only that, she genuinely thinks she CAN be a lot more than that. She just doesn’t know exactly how. Yet.

Mertcan Usluer

EN:

Mertci is a young and handsome (his words) creative mind who happens to also become a doctor this year inshallah. He struggles to make decisions, whether it being food, music or what to do as a career. Him not being able to make his mind up lead to adventures as a journalist, music producer, content creator and medical student.

He now is keen to combine all experiences and join efforts with the Datteltäter Academy to spread a light on social topics concerning the BIPOC community. Particularly: Misconceptions and tabus about mental health, sexual education and identity, as well as BIPOC awareness.

He is also an overall nice guy 🙂 (our words)

DE:

Merve Kumral

EN:

Mery once read a quote by Jean Michel Basquiat that said, “art is how we decorate space; music is how we decorate time.” Since then, she calls herself a time decorator. She didn’t go that typical path of a normal young girl in her childhood and her youth, but one with a lot of struggles and harsh judgements by her outer circle. For years of experiencing the ugly sides of human behavior, singing not only brought her back to her love and acceptance for her own soul, but sharing her talent on social media also made her connect with people that are touched by her singing. Getting feedback about feeling empowered and inspired by her voice and presence on social media from various people who are struggling to unapologetically embody their inner true self to the outer world – the society, she got aware, that her singing could be more important than she thought in the beginning. She not just wants to bring beauty into the lives of others but also wants to be a support, an empowerment and a safe space filled with love for everyone that wants and needs it.”

Muhammet Mustafa Salihoglu

DE:

This year he completed his Masters in Architecture. Through his studies he found his passion for illustration and graphic design. But capturing memories in the form of photos and videos has always fascinated him. Trying out new things, such as graffiti or 3D modelling, is often the priority for him.

He has been part of the Turkish folk dance group „NTHOT“ for about 10 years. There he teaches children and young people the traditional Turkish dances.

Even though he studied architecture, he realized that this course opened many more doors for him than he realized.
